Jerry Uelsmann Inspired GIF
I wanted to create a animation that would represent Jerry Uelsmanns work and be able to show similarities between my GIF and my Digital work. the photos for this animation was taken in Scotland at Loch Ness within the grounds of Urquhart castle.
this is an example of Uelsmanns work where it shows a lake with a mountainous background. where there is also shadows and vignetting which gives the photo that uelsmann look to it. I used these ideas to create my recreation so that my piece would convey similar characteristics.
This is a contact sheet which shows the images that i used to produce this GIF. there is a total of 14 jpg photos which I then uploaded into Lightroom to begin adding the famous Uelsmann characterisitcs.
I began by making all 14 images grey scale. after that I increased the blacks, shadows and whites to give it an old style film look. i additionally decreased the vignetting to -50 to add to the film processed look. to finish off in Lightroom I synchronised the editing I had done to the 1 image to the other 14 so they were all the same.
I then produced the GIF in Photoshop with an fps of 0.03 so that the animation was smooth.
